General Research Statement

I favor an interdisciplinary approach in research where expertise in a varriety of different areas of Computer Science can come together to form solutions to societal and medical problems. Societal and medical problems that I am actively seeking to apply computational solutions to includes toxic online behavior, political polarization, public littering and accessibility technologies for disabled people.

While researchers from other fields have tackled these problems, I believed that their many solutions can be augmented by the powerful processing and inference power of advanced machine learning techniques. Furthermore, through the mathemtical modelling inherent with machine learning, we can quantify abstract issues such as toxic online behavior which allows for us to be more rigorous and accurate in analyziing and developing new solutions to the problem.

My research focus specifically in these broad areas:

  • Computer Vision
  • Machine Learning
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Human-Computer Interaction
  • Computing for Social Good
